Here’s a reminder, just in case you have been, somewhere in your life – at work, in your family, with your friends – been playing small.
If you’ve done the Lightning Process with me, I have probably given you the extract of a speech by Marianne Williamson, which was extensively quoted by Nelson Mandela when he got out of prison.
Here is part of it:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God, your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so other people won’t feel insecure around you.”
So, reflect for a few moments on where in your life you may be doing this. Could it be time to start taking that risk and daring to inhabit your full, powerful, wonderful self? Who would be pleased? Who might not be pleased? And what is more important, you fully being your wonderful self, or keeping other people happy? Why?
