Talking with a client today reminded me that sometimes we don’t dare to be ourselves. Sometimes we hold back in case of offending our friends or relations. Occasionally they don’t want us to thrive because they may get jealous, or they just feel like they want us down there in the pit with them: you may have become someone to feel bad with, and that can be more comfortable and easy than change.
This quote from Marianne Williamson was used by Nelson Mandela in his first speech as President of South Africa.
Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?’
Actually, who are you not to be?
And, yes, this applies to YOU too
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God, your playing small doesn’t serve the world. There’s nothing enlightened about shrinking so other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that’s within us. It’s not just in some of us, it’s in everyone. And as we let our light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear our presence automatically liberates others.
So, what will YOU do when your light is fully shining?
